Denali Access System Priority List

Sponsors may apply for a project to be added on the Denali Access System Priority List. The Priority List enables a project’s applicant to request up to 100% federal cost share when applying for other federal funding opportunities such as the US Department of Transportation’s current Multimodal Project Discretionary Grant (MPDG) Program.

Projects added to the Denali Access System Priority List are reviewed and approved by the Denali Access System Program Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC). There are two ways to be added to the Denali Access System Priority List:

  • Projects which have applied and successfully received funds through Denali Commission transportation funding opportunities are automatically added to the Denali Access System Priority List.
  • Open submission on a quarterly basis.

For requests to be added to the Denali Access System Program Priority List on an open submission, applicants can submit a scope, schedule and budget and discuss how the proposed project meets the following measures:

  • Improves community health and safety.
  • Promotes operational improvements to enhance existing community infrastructure.
  • Promotes system resiliency to extreme climate trends and natural disasters.
  • Supports planned land use, and the pursuit of housing and economic development opportunities.
  • Supports opportunities for multi-modal transportation options (roads, barge landings, boardwalks, winter and recreational trails, docks, etc.).
  • Enables regional connectivity.
  • Takes advantage of project readiness.
  • Leverages community partnerships.

Sponsor eligibility: municipal, borough, state, and tribal governments, Federally recognized tribes, regional housing authorities, universities, regional tribal non-profit organizations, non-profit organizations, and Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) entities. Please note that a project on the Denali Access System Priority List does not guarantee or equate to a project receiving funds from the Commission.

Submit answers to above measures, general scope, schedule, and budget to [email protected] for consideration. The TAC evaluates project submittals to the Priority List on a quarterly basis.
